h2oliuDid I find the right place?19:55
@scrottiehi h2oliu20:00
@scrottieI think you did.20:00
@scrottieyou're Madison based?20:00
h2oliuyes.20:01
@scrottiefor some reason, every company swears off of telecommuters after hiring me.20:01
h2oliuNo comment.20:01
h2oliuscrottie, you were the bicyclist that did the long tour in France, correct?20:02
@scrottieh2oliu, yeah, that's me.20:02
h2oliuOk. Getting-names-faces-handles all correlated.20:02
@scrottiehttp://shprung.com/pbp/?mode=info&frame=4506 ... one of the pics isn't me but some other guy who was going out of his way to hide his frame number from commercial photographers.20:04
h2oliucool20:07
* scrottie shrugs20:08
@scrottiedaviddelikat doesn't talk much but disconnects and reconnects all day long.  David Nicol is on and off.  he goes by his initials.  perlDreamer is Colin.  he's often active on here.  he and I do most of the question answering.  that's staffers.  there are a lot of other regulars too who aren't staffers.20:32
@scrottiesome of the old guard are on here, too... haarg and frodwith in particular.20:34
h2oliuGotcha.20:36
haargo/20:36
@scrottieif you see preaction, he was our PHP programmer.  he likes to talk abuot PHP, so make sure to talk to him about that.20:38
haarglol20:38
h2oliuWhy do I feel like I am being hazed.20:41
h2oliu?20:41
@scrottieif it makes you feel any better, that would have been more at preaction's expense than yours.20:51
@daviddelikat1i'd talk more if I could find a decent im client for this Mac....21:03
@daviddelikat1as it is I have this bird on my toolbar that constantly waves at me even ehtn there is nothign going on...21:04
sbaurdaviddelikat1: Use Adium21:04
sbaurworks fine for me21:04
sbaurthe duck does not wave...21:04
@scrottieI really need to write my own.  again.21:05
@daviddelikat1I am using Adium21:05
@daviddelikat1I like Pidgin21:06
sbaurthen you are being annoyed by stuff that doesn't seem to bother me :-)21:06
@daviddelikat1I just want it to tel me when there is stuff going on....21:07
@daviddelikat1usually its just pointing out that I recently had a disconnect/connect cycle or four21:07
@daviddelikat1which happens every time I sneeze...21:08
sbaurI have 3 group chats open all the time. when there's something new in one of them, it displays the name of the group on the dock icon, and i have growl set up to show an alert with the chat message on my screen21:08
@daviddelikat1or something21:08
sbaurand i don't seem to have the connect/disconnect problems you're reporting21:09
@daviddelikat1I've thought about trying growl21:09
haargyou can configure what adium alerts you on iirc21:10
sbauryep21:10
haargi use xchat azure for irc, it's pretty terrible21:10
* scrottie uses irc-II21:21
h2oliuI just started with Collloquy.21:24
h2oliuFor the 3 hours that I have used it, it seems fine.21:25
haargthat's probably the best choice for a mac gui irc client21:25
h2oliuBut I don't get notified when something comes in.21:26
haargi'm only using xchat because it has perl scripting21:26
h2oliuThe last time I seriously used IRC it was just Relay.21:26
h2oliuAnyone got a few minutes to help with a wre install question?22:19
haargpossibly22:25
@scrottieask away.22:33
h2oliuI am running into an error when trying to add a user.22:33
h2oliuAn issue with WebGUI::Auth::Twitter.22:34
h2oliuDoes that sound familiar to anyone?22:34
h2oliuIt has a problem loading Sub/Name.pm, but that is up to date (according to cpan).22:34
haargwhat do you get from perl -MSub::Name -e122:35
h2oliuone sec22:36
h2oliuSome error messages.22:36
h2oliuOk. That gives me a starting point. 22:37
@scrottieif you give me the exact error message, I might have a guess.22:37
h2oliu1): no suitable image found.  Did find:22:37
h2oliu/data/wre/prereqs/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.0/darwin-2level/auto/Sub/Name/Name.bundle: mach-o, but wrong architecture22:37
@scrottieah, yeah.22:38
h2oliuThat looks like the key problem22:38
haarg32 vs 64 bit stuff i expect22:38
h2oliuYep22:38
h2oliuThanks.22:38
haargone of the reasons i never used the wre22:38
@scrottiewhich version of OSX are you on?22:38
h2oliu10.6.822:38
@scrottieI think the OSX wre was built for 10.3 or something like that.22:39
@scrottiemaybe 10.4.22:39
haargsomeone should probably update the topic to point to http://pastebin.com/ or some other paste site22:39
h2oliuThis was what I used to get started (before I was even on board).22:39
haargpastebin hasn't supported subdomains for a long time22:39
h2oliuAny suggestions on the best way to set up my test environment?22:39
@scrottieh2oliu, no XS modules are going to build for you.22:40
h2oliuXS?22:41
haargi never bothered to figure out why nobody could get the wre 64bit build working properly.  i just always installed the components myself and never had and compile problems.22:41
@scrottieh2oliu, you have a few options.  you can download the wre-source and fix it up to build cleanly, and preferrably update the versions of things in it.22:41
@scrottiethat's another option, what haarg said.22:41
haarggetting the wre source and building it is probably a good starting point though, assuming it works22:42
@scrottieyou could run Debian or RedHat in a virtualbox instance.  I personally would avoid that but other people seem to mind less than I do.22:42
@scrottiethe wre source does not build cleanly on recent OSXen.22:42
haargfitting the components together isn't that hard, but without any prior experience with the system a lot probably wouldn't be very obvious22:42
@scrottieI asked JT if fixing it should be a priority.  he said no, no one hosts wG on OSX.22:43
@scrottiewell, if a person had experience with C build problems on OSX, getting the wre-source package building should be no more complex than the build problem themselves.22:43
h2oliuUnfortunately, I am not a high end hacker type.22:44
haargif you opt for the wre source, be aware that the git repo is currently in prep for wg822:44
h2oliuI've been in sysadmin mode for the past few years.22:45
h2oliuI am thinking that fitting the components together may be easier for me.22:45

h2oliuThanks for the help/suggestions.22:45
@scrottieyou'll still want Apple's dev package.  you should be able to get a personal version for free from the site, or you can talk to Jamie about getting it bought.22:46
h2oliuI've got xcode on my machine (a bit outdated).22:46
@scrottiecool.  what version of perl came with OSX and do you have the source?  have you build mod_perl before?22:47
h2oliuI haven't.22:47
h2oliuosx comes with 5.1022:47
h2oliuI have put 5.12 on it though.22:47
@scrottiewhen modperl builds, it wants access to the (compiled) source code of perl.22:47
@scrottiedo you *have* to use wG7?  couldn't you just use 8?22:48
h2oliuI'm guessing, long term, I'll need both.22:48
haargthis might be a good reference for building stuff https://github.com/plainblack/wrebuild/blob/c85f21871a024d03732e108e2a9a9efe9b4ba97a/build.sh22:48
h2oliuDepending on which issues I am addressing.22:48
haargthat's the wre-for-wg7 build script22:49
h2oliuOk.22:49
h2oliuDo people use the Apple supplied apache (v. 2.2), or do you tend to use a fresh version?23:21
@scrottiedunno!  I think modperl wants headers from the source of the version you have.23:23
@scrottieso you'll at least need that.23:23
h2oliuThanks.23:23

doc_gt7Hello friends. DB / Macro question.  I am working on a macro that needs to create a temp table, select data from 2 tables and insert into the temp, then query the temp table and sort.  My query works perfect in mysql but when I run it in webgui it gives a sql error.  I am using:  my $sth = $dbh->unconditionalRead($statement);    Maybe I need to use something else like db->read ?  Being I have to select and write to a temp tabl20:53
doc_gt7read, what method should I use?  Thanks.   :o)20:53
-!- daviddelikat1 [~dav@76.201.154.209] has quit [Quit: Leaving.]20:54
@scrottieyou say it gives an error but don't tell us the error.20:56
@scrottieit amazes me that people complain about the meaninglessness of errors programmers make programs report, but then only report "an error", which is far more meaningless.  what if every program only had one error?  what if all you got was a red light on a dashboard?20:56
doc_gt7Well, it is the common SQL when you have a typo:  You have an error in your SQL syntax;   The thing is it works perfect executing it by hand but running it in the macro causes this error.20:57
sbaurcould it be something like commas in the data that aren't being escaped?20:57
@scrottielook at both of your logs... does it tell you more about the SQL error?20:58
@scrottielook at the modperl error log.20:58
doc_gt7Lemme check.20:58
@scrottieand then paste your code into one of those no-paste thingies.  gist.github.com works.20:58
doc_gt7mod perl is logging the same error. Syntax error.  at line 9 at /data/WebGUI/lib/WebGUI/SQL/ResultSet.pm line 316.   So is  my $sth = $dbh->unconditionalRead($statement);  the proper db method for this?21:01
@scrottieperhaps.  I'd have to see the rest of it.21:02
@scrottieyou know, like the SQL, and anything getting interpolated into it (as sbaur asked about)21:02
doc_gt7The query worked ok until it grew into multiple table queries.  Then bombed. If I remove the second table query it works again.  It seems to not like SELECT and then INSERT and then SELECT in the same statement. I will see if I can paste it into thingie :)  Thanks for any pointers.21:06
@scrottieyes, you'll have to execute each of those one at a time.21:20
@scrottieDBI's prepare is different from the mysql prompt in that regard.21:20

haargyou can only run queries one at a time21:29
haargthere is an SQL macro floating around somewhere, but it's really dangerous to use21:30
doc_gt7That is going to be a problem with temp tables as they disappear by the next query, afaik....21:31
sbaurinstead of making a temporary table, could you use the thingy asset?21:32
haargdoc_gt7, temporary tables are per connection, not per statement21:35
doc_gt7Not sure. Used to writing it out in the macro.  This is for an advanced search so it needs to combine 2 tables, then sort and select by distance.  In the end it is a huge query. 21:36
doc_gt7haarg Thanks, I will see if I can break it into smaller chunks and keep the unique temp table to avoid a race condition.21:37
doc_gt7is unconditionalRead the prefered method for this or db->write  db->read for each statement?21:38
-!- theseparator [~thesepara@d5152D3E7.static.telenet.be] has joined #webgui21:38

@scrottiecreate a transaction.  the temp table should live for the life of the transaction.21:58
@scrottieand sending three queries to the database at once doesn't make those three queries much quicker21:58
@scrottieyou probably shouldn't be creating a temp table.21:58
@scrottieyou should probably normalize your data and then just key each batch of data off of something21:59

doc_gt7I have 2 separate tables... they cannot be combined but they need to both be queried to generate a distance search.  The only way I knew to pull this off is to create a temp table, insert the relevant records into it, then query it and sort by distance.   By sending the 3 queries at once mysql can optimize it.    I am not sure about normalizing data... or even what that means :)22:08
doc_gt7It seems that when I create a temp table webgui opens, queries, closes, therefore the temp table is now gone.  Here comes query 2 but there is no temp table now...  query fails.  22:09

@scrottiemaybe.22:19
@scrottie_The Practical SQL Handbook_ is a great book for learning this stuff.  I highly recommend it.22:21
doc_gt7I think that is what I may have to do...  $sth = $dbh->unconditionalRead($statement);  opens, queries, closes because if I reference the table I just created it bombs.   Are there any examples on a transaction with $session->db->dbh  directly.22:21

@scrottieare you creating a transaction?22:21
@scrottieor are you ignoring that suggestion?  I can't tell.22:21
@scrottie"I did what you said and it doesn't work" or "I didn't do what you said and it doesn't work"?22:22
doc_gt7I would like to know how to create and close a transaction using $session->db->dbh....22:22
doc_gt7I thought that is what you were telling me to try.  Am I wrong?22:22
@scrottieyes, that's what I'm telling you to try, but you just keep repeating yourself without giving me indication of whether you did that or not.22:23
@scrottiein fact, I keep asking you to show me the code but I've had to instead pick up on errors by inferance from things you've said instead of from direct observation.22:24

doc_gt7git://gist.github.com/1754234.git was the offending query. @scrottiewould doing this satisfy your needs?    select * from church_chr union select * from featured_fea;22:34

doc_gt7That may work, but it will be a really long query ( I am working with 15 fields x 2)..  Would webgui accept that as a single statement?  22:37
@scrottieWebGUI doesn't do much to your SQL... it just passes it on to MySQL.22:38
@scrottieand that's a lot less work than for it to create a temp table and copy everything in and then copy everything back out22:38
@scrottiethis data would be a lot faster and easier to work with if it were normalized.  I really do recommend getting a copy of _The Practical SQL Handbook_ and reading it.22:39

doc_gt7Is The Practical SQL Handbook: Using SQL Variants(4rth edition) by Judith S bowman the book you recommend?  ( There are 3 pages of books on amazon when you search for The Practical SQL Handbook )  :)22:51
@scrottie"Using SQL Variants" isn't what I was thinking of, but that may be a permement addition to the title of the thing23:01
@scrottiehttp://product.half.ebay.com/The-Practical-SQL-Handbook-Using-Structured-Query-Language-by-Sandra-L-Emerson-Marcy-Darnovsky-and-Judith-S-Bowman-1996-Other-Subsequent-Edition-Mixed-media-product/102937&tg=info is what I was thinking of.... but http://product.half.ebay.com/The-Practical-SQL-Handbook-by-Sandra-L-Emerson-Judith-S-Bowman-and-Marcy-Darnovsky-2001-Other-Mixed-media-product/1836908&tg=info *might* be essentially the same thing23:09
doc_gt7Gotcha. I saw that cover when looking on amazon.  Just testing here but a union select query takes 12 seconds as opposed to .03 seconds with out it.  ( There are 300,000+ records in this db. ) 23:14
@scrottieit takes 0.03 seconds to query one table and then the other and get everything from both of them?23:27
@scrottiewhy are you selecting all of the data from two tables anyway?23:27
@scrottiedo you really want to display all of that to the user?23:27
@scrottiemaybe you want to filter it somehow?23:28
-!- pskept [pskept@gateway/shell/devio.us/x-chtcgsqboxtiwkll] has quit [Quit: leaving]23:30
doc_gt7Yes, it will be selected by distance. Just testing queries in webgui before I spend hours writing a query that will not work in webgui because you can only use one "action" per query...  ie: SELECT INSERT CREATE....  :) 23:31
doc_gt7I think that even if I get union select to work that it may still fail at the end because I would need to select FROM that set of combined data.23:33
@scrottiethis isn't a WebGUI thing.23:33
@scrottiethis is a MySQL thing.23:33
doc_gt7The statement works in mysql.... not in webgui  :)23:33
@scrottiespecifically a DBD::mysql thing.23:33
@scrottieit's three queries.23:33
@scrottiethe mysql command shell accomodates streams of distinct queries.  DBD::mysql's prepare() does not.23:34
@scrottieand it doesn't make sense to.23:34
@scrottie"it takes 0.03 seconds to query one table and then the other and get everything from both of them?"23:35
doc_gt7To sum it up::   In the end I will need to combine data from 2 tables, then query that combined set.... in a webgui macro.  What is the best possible path?  :)    23:35
@scrottieI asked three questions and got one answer.23:35
@scrottieare you joining the two tables?23:35
doc_gt7Sorry, I know it is confusing. I am trying to simplify my question.23:35
@scrottieeg join:  select * from a, b where a.id = b.a_id23:36
doc_gt7No, they are separate tables.... But they have similar fields.  One is human maintained, another computer generated.... I cannot use 1 table.23:38
@scrottie"I cannot use 1 table" is essentially not true.  you could store all of your data in one table and do essentially anything a RDBMS can do.23:39
@scrottiebut that's beside the point.23:39
doc_gt7Its a long story but one table is replaced each night... the other is not :)23:39
@scrottiepeople often say "It is impossible to do X" when they should be saying "I don't know how to do X".23:40
@scrottieanyway, I'm not arguing for them being one table.23:40
@scrottieI was curious if your end product would be created by doing a "join" between the two of them.23:40
@scrottie"combine data from two tables" often implies joining as opposed to a union or something like that.23:41
@scrottie"it takes 0.03 seconds to query one table and then the other and get everything from both of them?"23:41
@scrottiereally?23:42
@scrottieit takes 0.03 seconds to copy both tables into a temp table and then query everything from it, like you were doing?23:42
doc_gt7In my testing: yes.... but union select takes 12 seconds....23:42
doc_gt7No, but it is much faster....  Let me test it.23:42
doc_gt7.08 seconds for the create temporary table query.  Creates a temp table, selects fields from 2 tables, then selects and sorts the temp table.  Thats surprising. 23:45
@scrottiethe create temp table statement you showed me populated it with a copy of one of the tables.  is it possible that the other table is much larger?23:46
@scrottieanyway, rest assured that it is entirely possible to write WebGUI macros that pull data from the database in every complicated way imaginable.23:47
doc_gt7One table is much larger than the other. The intent is to merge the 2 and query it.23:48
@scrottieyes, if your one query that creates the temp table pulls from a much smaller table and that's the only thing you've timed, it will take less time than the union.23:50
@scrottieie, if you have a surprising time to quote to me, please confirm it's an apples to apples comparison.23:50
doc_gt7I have several working queries. I just have not found the best path to approach it in WebGui.   The one I timed was the one I pasted and was trying to make work in WebGui...   23:52
doc_gt7After I write a working query and then use it in the macro it fails. So I need to start with what works in WebGui and reverse code it lol :)23:52
doc_gt7Anyway,  Best method to query 2 tables, then select from THAT data?  I will run with it.  :)23:54
@scrottieyou're telling me that all three queries in the snippet of code you showed me ran in 0.03 seconds.  you're about to get a bozo bit.23:54
doc_gt7Oh it is much worse than that.... that query is 17 lines long and creates a temp table from selecting from 2 tables, then sorts by distance.  And it runs in 0.08 seconds.  I simplified the pasted one to make it as small as possible and still reproduce the error webgui gave me.  23:57
@scrottiethe best way to do it and how to do it within the context of perl/mysql/DBD::mysql are two separate questions.23:57
@scrottieseparate buty related.23:57
doc_gt7Yea, that is what I find.  At this point I need to make it work with WebGui.  Really things that work else where does not matter. :)23:58
@scrottieno, you seek to do it as sanely and intelligently as you can, and then ask politely how that solution might be made to work in WebGUI =)23:59
--- Day changed Tue Feb 07 2012
@scrottiehttps://gist.github.com/175521600:00
doc_gt7Trying to accomplish that.  I have worked on this "simple" search for 4 days, each time thinking I had it :)00:00
@scrottiethat works for me.00:00
@scrottiethat executes each statement separately, sa they need to be, and it creates a transaction within which temporary tables continue to live.00:01
doc_gt7that looks VERY promising.... :)   Going to test it out. 00:01
@scrottiein general, the best way to get help is to show code that doesn't work.  making assertions that lead to the code that doesn't work generally just results in a lot of discussion and not much working code.00:03
@scrottieif someone suggests that you use transactions and your code still doesn't work, paste it again and get more suggestions.00:03
doc_gt7I will try and remember that. transactions in WebGui is something I know nothing about so this is a learning curve for me. And what works in CGI, Mason, Perl scripts does not necessarily work in webgui. :)00:04
@scrottienone of that code I showed you is the least bit specific to wG, except for the $session->db->dbh bit.  $dbh is a DBI thing.00:06
@scrottieand DBI is just a layer over MySQL's client.00:06
@scrottie(or various other databses client)00:06
@scrottieessentially everything uses DBI and DBD::mysql.  various things such as DBI::Class are layers on top of it.00:07
@scrottieif I were a complete dick, I'd tell you to read the docs for DBI (perldoc DBI), but they're long and tedious.00:07
@scrottieer, essentially everything in the perl world that uses databses uses DBI.00:08
doc_gt7That works.. I just have to integrate my query into it and it will be perfecto!  Thank you so much for your patience scrottie,  I wish I could have explained it better, sooner  :)00:12
@scrottieI know there's a temptation to vent when things don't work how you think they should and I'm not un-sympathetic.  again, DBI/DBD::mysql are hairy.  but I'm also limited on spare time ;)00:12
@scrottieyou're quite welcome.00:12
doc_gt7I have written half a dozen macros to do various things but none deal with transactions.  This is the first time that I have needed to...  Its great to have some pointers, or in this case the entire sub :)00:14

@scrottiedunno.  it's been ages since I had time available to work on it.  perlDreamer and JT had been making a push for a while there.21:53
@scrottieyou're more than welcome to check it out and test it.21:54
@scrottieI heard perlDreamer declare wG8 "done" at one point, declaring that it then needed a wre, and then he did a bunch of work on that.21:55
@scrottieit needs a wre less so than wG7 does.  it's a lot easier to do the source install progress.21:55
-!- pskept [pskept@gateway/shell/devio.us/x-rgeugzboizysnxeu] has left #webgui []22:25
+perlDreamerwebgui8 is (by itself) ready to be released22:35
+perlDreamerbut we can't release webgui8 without an accompanying WRE22:35
xdangerperlDreamer: I don't my self use wre, but is there anything that I could help out with?22:59
+perlDreamerI need to finish up the demo server.23:00
+perlDreamerThat's the last thing23:00
+perlDreamerand as soon as I get all our client and support issues taken care of, I'll  have time to do that23:00
xdangerI just want webgui8 out, so that It's little more tested, I've based some new development on webgui8 api =)23:00
+perlDreamerreally?23:00
+perlDreamerhow did you find it, compared to 7?23:00
xdangerI really like Moose and roles23:01
+perlDreameryeah, me too23:01
xdangerI find the api much more easy to comprehend, even though it's not that much different23:01
+perlDreamerno, it's quite similar23:01
xdangerand I really like around!23:02
+perlDreameraround rocks!23:02
+perlDreamersuper is good, too23:02
+perlDreamerat some point, I'd like to decompose Wobject into 2-3 roles23:02
+perlDreamerand apply them individually to the wobjects23:02
+perlDreamersince Article doesn't need database collateral23:02
+perlDreamerand everybody needs access to prepareView23:02
haargto start with it would be easy to make them separate roles and apply them to wobject23:03
haargand everything should just keep working the same23:03
xdangerdid you solve the nginx + uploads privileges? If I remember correctly you didn't have that one figured out yet23:03
+perlDreamerno, currently uploads are being handled by WebGUi23:03
+perlDreamerWe'll be moving it over to a technology that Haarg suggested, X-Sendfile23:03
xdangergood23:03
xdangerI suggested that in 2007 or 2006 =)23:04
xdangersomewhere around when I wrote the streamin uploads to mod_perl webgui23:04
haargit was always what i intended to be used for the psgi version.  never really wrote it down anywhere though.23:04
haargand it's not something that can be set up in webgui core really.  has to be in the wre or equiv.23:05
xdangerJust make it a configurable header, so that different implementations can use it (for example apache, perlbal) I think that it has a few different names but basicly the same funtionality23:05
xdangerperlDreamer: I haven't looked at Moose really before I figured I just start my "not-so-urgent" development on the wg8 api. And now I just want to refactor it to roles and stuff =)23:07
@scrottieperlDreamer, X-Sendfile should be working23:08
@scrottieand there should be tests for it23:08
@scrottiethe psgi configs should be set up to enable it23:08
+perlDreamerhm, perhaps all I need is the nginx config then23:08
@scrottiestuff got reworked in wG8 to use it if enabled.  there's a setting.23:08
haargnginx needs to set the right headers for it23:08
@scrottiewG8 should be setting the header.  then something else (nginx, or some bit of middleware) should be seeing the header and doing the work of sending the file.23:09
xdangerNow I have a little problem, since I was visioning that wg8 should come out around fall 2011.. and now the deadline is in 1,5 months =)23:11
@scrottiexdanger:  you're more than welcome to do the work of finishing the wre for it =)23:12
xdangerI'm not familiar with the demo server =)23:13
xdangerWhat is it missing at the moment?23:13
@scrottieme either, but if you have questions, you can ask.23:13
xdangeroh, now that I remember! Could you please relicence the asset skeletons under bsd, or similiar licence? ;)23:14
@scrottiesounds like a question for JT.23:15
xdangerlicense, can't seem to type this evening23:15
haargi think perlDreamer and i came up with a workable approach for the demo server23:15
@scrottieof course, one could also go to Canada and clean-room reverse engineer an asset skeleton ;)23:15
xdangerI just talked about some other project with a friend of mine, and he pointed out that code examples should be licensed more freely than gpl23:16
@scrottieI'm pretty sure the implication of giving you GPL "skeletons" to start building your own app on top of are purely accidental.23:18
@scrottieer, was purely accidental.23:18
@scrottiebut I'm also not the copyright holder.23:18
xdangerscrottie: I'm in Finland, is that far enough for reverse engineering ;)23:18

@scrottieopen an RFE and then when JT makes his bi-monthly IRC appearance, flag him down.23:20
@scrottieand show it to him.23:20
xdangerIt doesn't matter if you use the "gpl asp loophole"23:21
@scrottiesorry if I'm being a bit officious.  I should probably just change the copyright on the file, but JT might have a valid concern about some detail, and it is his, and I'm busy fighting other battles.23:21
xdangerto me, at the moment atleast23:21
xdangerscrottie: I understand, and there could be some legal stuff also involved23:22
xdangerI know you in the US like to hassle with legal stuff =)23:22

ckotilim running 7.9.23 but the issue is in the beta too. http://beta.webgui.org/demo1328811276_946/home default user/pass. click edit on the image at the bottom of the page. then click the oldest revision from the link on the top right. then try to click through to the image. you get an apache error.20:16

+perlDreamermaybe we're due for another TinyMCE upgrade20:39
ckotili think that would be swell20:39
+perlDreamerI'll see if I can duplicate the helpdesk bugs with my chrome, and that way we can use that as a benchmark for fixing stuff20:40
+perlDreamerwhen I get back into bugfixing mode, that is20:40
ckotilcool.20:41
ckotilhow much pain do you think this will bring me? Recently I applied a batch edit to most of my site setting a new style template. Well that updated the last modified time, which pretty much broke our ability to find stale documentation. I would like to directly modify the SQL to remove my username and timestamp from the last edit.20:44

+perlDreamerit may cause a problem with the version tag20:52
+perlDreamerhaving the version tag being owned by someone other than the person who edited the assets20:52

@scrottieis there a clever trick for debugging cases where Perl tries to gobble up infinite memory and then coredumps on global destruction?20:57
ckotilperlDreamer: yeah im thinking of writing a script to replace my username/lastModified time stamp with the previous username/lastModified, so as to preserve the version tag integrity20:59
+perlDreamerckotil, doing that actually does the opposite21:04
+perlDreameryou did edit the asset21:04
+perlDreamerbut you didn't alter the content21:04
+perlDreamerWebGUI doesn't make that distinction21:05
+perlDreamerscrottie, I've only seen perl do that in the case of infinite loops in code21:05
ckotilhrm, so maybe i should just think about how to move forward rather than clean up after myself?21:09
ckotillike add another field, metadata field to hold a last modified date. 21:09
@scrottiehuh.  Sub::Uplevel gets used during stack trace generation for Carp.  if things go wrong in there, it can trigger a stack trace care of Carp.21:21

h2oliuHey all, new PB dev here, so I'm fumbling around a bit. I'm trying to understand the message: You must have active friends in the system if you wish to send new private messages without having to first locate their profile22:05
h2oliuI guess the question is how do I make friends in wG?22:05
h2oliu(Let the chuckling begin).22:06
@scrottiedunno!  I've only ever used that part of the system from the API... adding friends as part of some client-specific function.22:09
@scrottiedon't know if there is a stock add-friend UI22:09
@scrottielaggy laggy lag lag lag lag22:10
h2oliuOh well. I'm mucking about the UI, seeing what I can find. I just want to create a message.22:10
@scrottieWestern Union betta watch out!  at this rate, T-Mobile is going to put them out of business by the time 6G or 7G comes out.22:11
@scrottieanother option would be to go into Settings and turn off the requirement (whatever it is called, I forget) that you can only send PMs to friends.22:11
h2oliuThanks. I'll look at that.22:12
@scrottieseriously, T-Mobile makes me pine for the good old days of the 300 baud modem.  I could style stuff and virtually instantly see it appear on my screen!  w00t!  it was like magic!22:12
@scrottieI wonder what five minutes for a sentence translates into, baudwise.  prob ably about 4.22:13
@scrottieusing remote servers in Australia back when they had one 64kbps link for the entire country was faster than this.22:14
@scrottieokay, that's a lie, but it still reminds me of that.22:14

doc_gt7Hello friends. I hope I can explain this question correctly...  Is it possible to pass a list of variables from a macro to an HTML Template, maybe using the template variables.  Or should I generate the HTML to return inside the macro itself?  I am trying to pass the same list of vars onto a "blue" template, or a "green" template ect...  I would like to know the best method to use with this.  Thank you :)18:26
@daviddelikatare you calling a macro ( ^macro(); ) in the template and hoping to put data into variables that change the way the template renders?18:29
-!- kaare_ [~kaare@94.191.197.64.bredband.3.dk] has joined #webgui18:31
doc_gt7More like a button that you click and it queries and then displays the data on another page, varied by the option they choose.  Trying to explain it better. :)18:31
doc_gt7If they choose style A,  display on a green page.    If they choose style B, display on a blue page.  18:32
doc_gt7Say I have a green and a blue page.  When the macro calls it, can you pass the list of vars to the page?  Or do I need to create the "page" in the macro.   18:33
@daviddelikatit sounds like you want to have user selectable css18:35
doc_gt7From a macro...18:35
@daviddelikatwhat does the macro do?18:36
@daviddelikatyou mentioned user interaction.18:37
@daviddelikatis it a form or a link18:37
@daviddelikatgenerally all that can be done from a macro is to inject text into the html document18:37
doc_gt7There is db record displayed with a button for Details.  When you click the button it queries the database for the details.  One of the fields is a "style".  I need the macro to display the information using that "style template".  Hope this helps....18:37
doc_gt7If it was A display on green... if it was B display on blue... 18:39
CIA-43webgui: Colin Kuskie master * r202d073 / app.psgi : use Plack::Util instead of relying on someone leaking it. - http://git.io/rXQ_-w18:39
doc_gt7I am not sure that what I want to do is possible. But usually with WebGui it is.... :)18:39
@daviddelikatI think you are going to have to do this as part of your template code18:42
@daviddelikata macro could change which css gets loaded based on a parameter18:42
@daviddelikatbut that is about it18:42
doc_gt7Ah, so the HTML template could be manipulated from the macro.... But how would you pass the param to it?18:43
@daviddelikatmacro syntax is pretty simple:   ^name(params);18:45
@daviddelikatbut if the data is in a template variable you have to do it like this:18:46
ckotildo templates process macros?18:46
@daviddelikat^name( [% mydata.var %]);18:46
@daviddelikatno it is a side process in webgui that can be turned off18:47
@daviddelikateach macro available is defined in the config file18:47
doc_gt7Is it possible to pass info FROM the Macro TO the HTML Template?  I have written several macros so I under stand how to call them.  I appreciate the help with it though! :)18:49
doc_gt7If style eq 'A' return....18:50
@scrottiedoc_gt7, I've been doing something like that with wG7 and I'm told it's a lot easier in 818:55

@scrottieI'm monkey patching a handful of methods:  WebGUI::Asset::Wobject::processStyle, WebGUI::Session::Style::userStyle, WebGUI::Account::getStyleTemplateId, some others18:57
sbaurcould you just use a template toolkit template to switch based on the value of some field that the button press chooses in the profile or session scratch or something?18:57
@scrottiethen they do other things than pull straight from a setting.  you could do $session->user->get('some_profile_field_that_has_their_styleId') or something.18:57
sbauror even a FormParam?18:58
@scrottiesbaur, could, but sometimes people yell at you if you do style stuff past <head>...</head>.18:58
* sbaur dons flamesuit18:59
@scrottieanyway, I can't comment on what would be best for your needs, but it just so happens that that's what I've been up to18:59
* scrottie shrugs18:59
doc_gt7I guess I need to be able to at least switch the CSS from the macro.  I can pass any field that I want to it.  Like if I call the HTML Template with style = A  then if would need to be able to switch the style... 19:00
doc_gt7Can a macro pass a FormParam to a page?19:00
@daviddelikatit seems to me the best solution would be insert the macro into the css tag19:01
doc_gt7I will give it a go and see what happens... :)19:02
@daviddelikatinside the tag use    src='^getstyle( [% stylename %] );'19:02
doc_gt7I could call that page with id=14 and then have a small macro to ^getstyle( [% 14 %] );' I guess. It should work :)19:04
sbaurgood luck doc!19:04
doc_gt7Thanks for the pointers everyone :)19:05
haargin webgui 8 you can do [% USE Macro; IF macro.FormField("blah"); %]21:41
haargwhich brings up a potential security issue if the Env macro is enabled21:42
haargin 8 env is a psgi env, and will have a lot more in it that shouldn't be able to be called from a template21:43
haargmight be best if the env macro stringified its return value21:44
haargat least it's not enabled by default21:44

doc_gt7Thanks haarg. I have found a work around for it by designing the page with the CSS in the header.  Call that page with page?id=xx  and then having a small macro embedded in the page where needed which gets the details for id=xx.   Seems to be working pretty well...22:21

@scrottieyou might consider running wG8.21:47
@scrottiethere's no Debian package for it yet, but aside from mysql, all of the deps are just perl and perl modules.21:48
@scrottiePlack based.21:48
eirothis is for a production site: i can't use an unstable code :(21:48
@scrottiethat's kind of a chicken and egg thing.21:48
@scrottieno one is going to use it for production code until other people use it for production code.21:49
@scrottiebut PlainBlack uses it for production sites already.21:49
eiroscrottie, i thought it was still alpha21:49
@scrottiethe core is pretty good.  the admin is reasonably good.  various assets (apps built on top of it) are less well tested.21:49
@scrottieit is.21:49
@scrottiethe beta test is waiting on the wre for it.21:49
@scrottiewhich it doesn't absolutely need.21:49
@scrottieso PlainBlack is running alpha software.21:50
eiromy dream was: wg8 + plack + postgresql 21:50
@scrottiepostgresql is my dream, too.21:50
@scrottiehopefully I'll get some free time after the current project I'm on.21:51
eiroif you think wg8 code is stable enougth for a production site, just tell me: i try to set it up now!21:51
@scrottieokay, I've got the README.Debian.21:53
@scrottieeiro:  how much time do you have to get the site running?  if you have a little time, I'd do wG8.  that would allow time for us to fix any serious bugs that come up in testing.21:54
@scrottieat least three of us here will stop what we're doing to fix a serious problem with wG8 if one comes up.21:55
@scrottiehonestly, it's probably easier to get wG8 doing what you want than 7, just because of mod_perl/apache.21:55
eiroscrottie, i have to set up 2 sites in few days ... say everything should be up tuesday 21:55
@scrottiehrm.21:55
eirook21:56
eiroi'm more confortable with plack too!21:56
@scrottieup to you.  not sure which course is better in that case.21:56
eiroi stop apache right now 21:56
@scrottiethe really important thing with wG8 is that you *must* run upgrades even though it's a new install.21:57
@scrottieif upgrades don't run for a while, it won't work.21:57
@scrottiethere should be lots of output from the upgrades.21:57
@scrottieit comes with a 7.x.x database and upgrades it to 8.x21:57
eiroscrottie, as i said: i was afraid of a code moving too fast: if you can point me on a wg8 branch that is stable enought, i'll set it up and try to fix things by myself 21:58
eiro(i prefer to search for perl errors than apache config ones :) )21:58
@scrottieeiro:  wG8 isn't in rapid development any more.  it's just bugfixes for a while.21:58
@scrottieeiro:  but you still have to do the upgrade process when you install it.21:58
eiroso do i have to use "master" ? 21:59
eiroany chance to use pg ?21:59
@scrottiecheck out the WebGUI8 branch... git clone git://github.com/plainblack/webgui.git21:59
eirook21:59
@scrottieno pg support yet.  sorry =|  I hope to do that one of these days, though.21:59
eiro(already cloned: just have to set the branch)21:59
eirono pb... was just a dream :)22:00
@scrottieWebGUI8/docs/install.txt is the install instructions22:00
@scrottiethe readme has a short version22:00
@scrottiemysql is a frequent source of problems in production, too, so it's not just for uesrs who want Pg.  I want Pg for production.22:01
@scrottieuse a different database name than you were starting to use in 7, then if wG8 install goes wrong, you can go back to trying 7.  just a thought.22:01
@scrottieImageMagick is also often a problem.22:02
@scrottieI'm going to run an errand here.  back later.22:02
@scrottiehrm, the install docs don't tell you where to get wgd, it looks like.  get it from here:  http://haarg.org/wgd22:03
@scrottieyou need that to run upgrades.22:03
eirofuck! perl 5.12 required! 22:04
eiroi have to use perlbrew 22:04
@scrottieeek.22:05
@scrottieyou may find installing all of the modules for wG8 too difficult.22:05
@scrottieI don't think all of the modules install cleanly.22:05
eiroor maby switch to wheezy22:05
@scrottieyou have to use cpanm --force and fix various dumb things.22:05
eiroscrottie, are the deps very different from wg7 ? 22:05
@scrottiethere are a few more deps but not many.22:06
@scrottiemostly it's the same.22:06
@scrottieif you were able to install everything for wG7, you should be okay.22:06
@scrottiebut most people have trouble with that.22:06

ckotilIs it possible to change the order of asset fields? via overrides?20:53

@scrottieckotil, be more specific?  what are you looking at that you want to change?21:21
@scrottieis this in view, or edit, and for any asset in particular...?21:21
ckotiledit21:35
@scrottieany asset in particular?21:44
ckotilno, im using asset fields and tabs in the config to move some things around, and i was wondering if it's possibel to reorder the fields.21:45
@scrottiethe built-in assets generally don't let you specify a template for the edit screen, though they really probably should.21:45
@scrottieyou could subclass them and add this feature in the subclass, though.21:45
ckotilI think we're talking about different things21:47
ckotilin the webgui config, under the "assets" section;category, isContainer, addGroup, uiLevel, fields, tabs. fiels and tabs offer a lot of useful overrides, but i cant figure out how to redorder the fields. i can move fields to differnet tabs, which is great. 21:49
ckotilfor example, moved keywords and summary to the properties tab out of metadata. and lowered the UI level so that my users see it right away without clicking to another tab21:49
@scrottiewe're talking about different things because I asked you three questions to get clarification and you answered one of them.21:57
@scrottieuntil I went off and guessed and then you elaborated.21:58
ckotilmore like 6 questions21:59
ckotil4?21:59
ckotilanyway.21:59
@scrottieI'm not aware of any feature to do that... reorder where the auto-generated edit forms put different fields.  sorry.22:01
ckotilk22:11
@scrottiethough, if you wanted to resort to code, templates for the edit screens would technically work ;)22:12
ckotilyeah, and that would be awesome22:16
ckotilone rumor I heard about wg8 a few years ago were templateable edit screens, which i took to mean inline edits22:17
@scrottie"inline edits"?22:20
ckotilyeah, edit an asset without leaving the page 22:21
@scrottieah.  no, those wouldn't necessarily be the same thing, but since wG8 does everything over AJAX, that could be implemented.22:22
@scrottiewith a bit of glue.22:23
ckotilyeah, probably better that way22:23

eiroagrhhh ... but the upload directory is relative to root 21:06
eirothat's what i want to avoid 21:06
haargthere should be two uploads directories21:07
haargthere is the one that is part of the webgui core, and is used to create a site21:07
haargyour site itself should have its own copy of the uploads that are just for that site21:07
haargand the path to that is set in your site's config file21:07
eirowhat i would like is:21:09

eiro(on every site, code is a symlink to the good version of webgui)21:09
eirogoto KITCHEN; 21:10
eirobrb;21:10
haarga symlink to lib or webgui root?21:19
haargand how are you going to run this?21:19
haargwebgui 8 still makes assumptions about the locations of files.  it's all contained in WebGUI::Paths though, and should be possible to make it more flexible pretty easily.21:19
eiroa symlink to ... actually i don't know :) 21:31
eiroi tried the webgui root 21:31
eiromy goal is to run sites with different versions of webgui without  having a git clone by site 21:32
eirook. so i'll run the urgents sites with copies of code21:33

elninooh. I'll just do a sql query19:49
sbaursomething like select url from assetData where assetId in (select distinct assetId from metaData_values where value like '%css_file%');19:51
sbaurat least that would work against 7.6.x :-)19:51

elnino howdy, is there a way to disable the notifications sent from a collaboration system while I make modifications?01:05
haarghave them on normally, but off for edits?01:06
elninojust temporarily. like for an hour. 01:06
elninobut I don't want the quied emails to send out either.01:06
elninos/quied/queued01:07
elninohi btw.01:07
elninobeen awhile since I've chatted with you.01:07
haargso there is an existing queue that you want to clear out?01:08
elninono.01:08
elninoI just want to disable it before I do a bunch of edits, and tehn turn it back on when I'm done. 01:09
elninoI wsa looking at scheduler, but I have a feeling thigns will get queued still.01:09
haargyeah01:09
haargturning off notifications on the CSs is what comes to mind01:09
elninowill it "fill up" with emails that will send when I turn it back on?01:10
haargif you edit the collab systems and tell them not to send out notifications it shouldn't, as long as that's where the setting is01:11
haargi haven't used webgui outside the command line in a year or so :)01:11
elninolol.01:11
elninooh, I was looking at the admin->scheduler, let me see if there is a similar setting with the particular CS. I don't recall seeing one.01:12
elninono such setting with the CS... I'll try the scheduler area.01:15
haargsettings in the scheduler probably aren't what you want01:17
elninonope, you're right.01:19
elninothis stinks.01:19
elninoI don't have access to this computer, so I can't clear the queue.01:19

@scrottieaccessible to the file folder template... I'd have to read code05:44
@scrottieare you still working on this?05:44
@scrottielooks like these things get set from children of the folder:  id canView title menuTitle synopsis size date.epoch icon.small icon.big type extension url canEdit controls05:46
@scrottieoh, then images get isImage=1 and thumbnail.url05:47
@scrottieand File assets get a couple of things05:47
@scrottieit would be nice if it just fetched all of the template vars if a getTemplateVars method is available05:47

elninoI really don't know much about metadata. I've asked manytimes, and it's always explained to me, but then I get all confused, never use them, wait 3 years, and think, "oh, I can use those"06:22
elninoand the cycle happens again.06:22
elninoso if they are supposed to be accessible, I can write a bug report.06:23

@scrottieelnino, you're more than welcome to file an RFE.  not sure if this is a bug or an RFE.  it doesn't look like metadata is being used here.  again, if it were to call getTemplateVars when available in the child asset, that would gather up everything07:33
@scrottieand you could always roll up a patch for yourself, test it, and send a pull request for it =)07:33

eiroscrottie, i'm still trying to setup multiple sites and trying to figure out how to organize files to do it. i want to write a patch for WebGUI::Paths -> be siteConfigs sensible to WEBGUI_CONFIGS 17:29
eirocould be cool, don't you think ? 17:29

eirohave to go: bbl 17:44
haargwebgui has always worked with multiple sites17:46
haargwgd assumes things are being used along the lines as webgui 7, with site configs all in webguiroot/etc17:47
haargit tries to be compatible enough to not require that, but webgui 7 itself does17:47
haargthe WEBGUI_SITENAME thing in wgd is an alternative to specifying the WEBGUI_CONFIG file.  it will search in etc for a site with the given name.17:48
haargif there's anything about those docs that could stand to be clarified, let me know17:48

@scrottiehaarg, I'm not sure what eiro was proposing, but, specifically, I understand that it's easier to use one WebGUI8 to host two differently styled sites in 8 (with respect to userFunctionStyleId and so forth)17:54
haargi don't remember anything in 8 that would make that different17:56
haargaside from the codebase, different webgui sites on same server are entirely separate17:56
-!- kaare__ [~kaare@95.209.213.69.bredband.oister.dk] has joined #webgui17:56
haargit's probably easier to run multiple codebases now17:56
haargbut that's just because starman is easier to run that mod_perl17:57
@scrottieit is easier to run multiple instances but I don't think that's what was being referred to.17:57
@scrottiethis is also second hand, but people elude to problems of running wG7 out of somewhere other than /data.17:58
* scrottie shrugs17:58
haargoh, yeah that's certainly the case17:58
haargbut that's not really related to having multiple sites17:58
haargwg8 certainly makes it easier to reorganize the files17:58
@scrottieright.  related to having multiple instances.17:58
haargand WebGUI::Paths was meant to be a first step towards that17:59
-!- kaare_ [~kaare@95.209.211.181.bredband.oister.dk] has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]17:59
@scrottiehere's the sum of the story from my end.  I was surprised that it wasn't easier to have different sets of style templates for two different sites on wG7.  perlDreamer remarked that changes in 8 make that easier.17:59
@scrottieright now, I have no idea what people are and aren't trying to accomplish when they host two domains on one site.18:00
haargi had hoped to make it more flexible and allow easier manipulation to either use File::ShareDir or help with os packaging18:00
haarghosting multiple domains on one site is a bit of a different issue.  i wouldn't have expected 8 to improve that, but could easily be wrong.18:00
@scrottiethe only other spec doc I saw for it, they wanted a magical same-site-except-when-they're-distinct that a human going over specific cases couldn't possibily even get right18:00
@scrottieah, that would be interesting.18:01
@scrottieI'd love to see wG8 be entirely CPAN-able.18:01
@scrottieor at least a core of it.18:01
haargi agree18:03
@scrottiebut it's probably been a year since I've done anything on core.18:03
haargi put a number of things into 8 to make that more possible, but there's still more stuff needed18:03
haarggetting a bunch of wgd stuff into it, as well as something similar to wre's addsite.pl18:04
haargand getting WebGUI::Paths working with File::ShareDir18:04
haargthat's all the major stuff i know of18:04

eiroback 18:34
@scrottieheya eiro18:35
eiroi'm really confused about those values: as i asked: i want to have multiple sites without adding data in the git repository18:37
haargfor a site you need two things.  you need a separate uploads directory (created by copying the one in the repo) and a config file.18:38
@scrottieeiro, ahh, I didn't even know what you were trying to accomplish, only which file you were proposing editing code in.18:38
haargthe config file lists paths to various things, including that uploads directory.18:38
@scrottieeiro, usually upload dirs for new sites are put in /data/domain/www.whatever.com/public/uploads18:39
haargwith webgui 8, technically that config file could be stored anywhere, but it's probably easiest to place in the etc dir.  the log config file is required to be in that directory anyway.18:39
eirois this patch naive ? http://pastebin.com/RP8rM0B318:40
@scrottiethen /data/domains/www.whatever.com/public/extras is symlinked to /data/WebGUI/www/extras18:40
haargso having them entirely outside the root directory would be rather painful.18:40
haargideally the concept of the 'root' directory wouldn't exist, but i had to make some compromises.18:41
@scrottieeiro, change "extrasPath" and "uploadsPath" in your new .conf to point to those two directories, and change "dsn" to point to the new database (oh, right, I'm sharing a database and uploads between multiple domains, but you probably don't want to)18:42
@scrottie... and then load the create.sql into that new database, and then database users and...18:43
@scrottieif you're using the wre, there's a utility that does this stuff for you18:43
eiroscrottie, i'm scarred by the wre: i don't want it to create /data/* ...18:44
haargeiro: why do you want to keep all the files our of the git checkout dir?18:44
@scrottieah, so this is just all about finding hte config file for the current site!18:46
@scrottiewhee!18:47
eirohaarg, because i don't want to do craps on the repo as i want to be abble to push contributed code18:48
haarg.gitignore should already be ignoring the config files18:48
haargyou can have the files in there without adding them to the repo18:49
eironot there ...18:49
haargetc/.gitignore18:49

+perlDreamerright, the last one is the important one21:01
+perlDreamerI also thought about putting some is7 or is8 methods into version21:01
+perlDreamerbut that seemed a little dangerous21:01
haargi think it seems reasonable21:02
haargperlDreamer: would you mind showing me the output without the --compatible=mysql40 option?  i can't easily test it right now.21:03
haargmight want to omit the data section21:04
+perlDreamerit's pretty much s/TYPE=/ENGINE=/mg;21:04
+perlDreamerwell, that's the part mysql was upset about21:04
haargi remember there being a fair few other differences.  maybe i'm mistaken.21:04
+perlDreamerlet me do a diff21:04
+perlDreamerhaarg: http://gist.github.com/189444621:15
haargok.  the compatible=mysql40 was intended to also make the charset declarations simpler21:17
haargit might be good to have wgd regex s/TYPE/ENGINE/21:18
haargit already has code to find the last line of the table declarations and add the CHARSET=utf821:18
+perlDreamerI could test that, to see if only the s/TYPE/ENGINE/ fixes the loading problems on 5.521:25

nagadawai have been out of touch for a while, how far out is webgui 8?18:33
nagadawaI just noticed there is webgui8 vm, but it's not on the list to download.  Is there another place I can download the vm and try it out?19:01
@scrottienagadawa, wG8 is essentially ready for beta test19:18
@scrottiebut it isn't being advertised heavily yet because the wre for it isn't quite finished19:19
@scrottieperlDreamer has been working on that19:19
@scrottieyou don't need the wre to run it.  it's easier to do the "source install" with wG8 than 7, by far.19:19
@scrottiethe place to get it from is github.19:20
@scrottiehttp://github.com/plainblack/webgui19:20
@scrottieit was in the WebGUI8 branch but I'm told that it's now in the 'master' branch, so you should be able to just 'git clone' the git:// link on that page and then go through the setup/upgrade process.19:20
@scrottiemake sure the upgrades run!  if you don't see a bunch of output and it doesn't take a while, they didn't run, and it won't work. 19:21
* scrottie &19:22
nagadawathank you scrottie, I have heavily used webgui7 and loved it.  I'm looking forward to seeing webgui8.19:36
