sany_okYes, I have checked the environment and upgrade successfully from 7.6.35 to the latest 7.911:08
sany_okMay be it will be fixed in 7.10 stable and while it is beta I shall use 7.9.x?11:09
sany_okI thought 8x was betta and 7.10 - stable11:09
sany_okPlease let me know is it possible to see the latest SQL executed?11:13
sany_okMay be need to insert print $SQLText to SQL.pm ?11:13
sany_okperl -D displays enemours amount of tracing which is hard to interpret for me11:14
sany_okIn DotNet I can focus on a stack trace from exception which is only 10-20 lines11:15
+BartJolwell 7.10 is stable11:16
sany_okThe topic is '[7.9.33-stable | 7.10.20-beta11:16

+BartJolyou might first try 7.9.34->7.10.22 as a separate upgrade11:22
+BartJolthe continue to 7.10.2811:23
sany_okI guess it fails in the  7.9.34->7.10.111:23
+BartJolwell, that should not be a step11:24
+BartJolthose beta and stable were developed next to each other, so bugfixes where already applied in the beta, so the upgrades to new stable were  sometimes strange steps11:27

sany_okHello06:40
sany_okCan someone point me to info to how isolate different websites of WebGUI?06:40
sany_okFor 7.6.35 it worked fine, but for the latest 7.10 I cannot require a specific URL for a single website06:41
sany_okany xxx.domain.com appears as domain.com06:41
sany_okI would expect a no site warning06:41
sany_okcat test306:46
sany_okPerlSetVar WebguiRoot /data/WebGUI06:46
sany_okPerlCleanupHandler Apache2::SizeLimit06:46

sany_okPerlInitHandler WebGUI06:46
sany_okPerlSetVar WebguiConfig test3.conf06:46
sany_ok</VirtualHost>06:47
sany_okit works for any subdomain for some reason, I would like to avoid this06:47
sany_okFor example: http://aaa.vps2.aulix.com/   works too :(06:47
sany_okseems like ServerName and ServerAlias just ignored07:11
sany_okworks like there is an asterisk for subdomains though there is no asterisk07:31
sany_okIf only this site config removed then already displays07:41
sany_okIt works!07:42
sany_okThis is the default web page for this server.07:42
sany_okThe web server software is running but no content has been added, yet.07:42
sany_okSo I guess only following matters:07:42
sany_ok<VirtualHost *:80>07:42
sany_okServerName test3.vps2.aulix.com07:42
sany_okServerAlias test4.vps2.aulix.com07:42

sany_oknot sure why does it happen that fdfdfdf is mapped to test3 according to the log08:12
sany_okbtw, it is other_vhosts_access.log08:15
sany_oknot general access.log, may be it is an idea how to fix08:16

sany_okHello09:25
sany_okRecently upgraded to the latest stabe WebGUI, looks very good09:25
sany_okmy provisioning screepts work fine with new version, so can create any amount of new sites just in 10 seconds each :)09:26
sany_okcorrection: scripts09:26
sany_okBut unfortunately newly uploaded images do not appear in the uploads directory09:27
sany_okAll uploads content done in previous version of WebGUI works fine09:27
sany_okAnother problem: drag and drop does not work in Iceweasel and Chrome for me, using assets order numbering to work around temporary09:29
sany_okShall I report these as bugs?09:29
sany_okwell uploads partially fixed: permissions09:48
sany_okbut at the end of uploading process a browser displays an error like:09:48
sany_okNo data received09:48
sany_okLess09:48
sany_okUnable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.09:48
sany_okReload this webpage.09:48
sany_okPress the reload button to resubmit the data needed to load the page.09:48
sany_okError code: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE09:48
sany_okThe connection was reset09:49
sany_okThe connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.09:49
sany_okThe site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few09:49
sany_okmoments.09:49
sany_okIf you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network09:49
sany_okconnection.09:49
sany_okIf your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure09:49
sany_okthat Iceweasel is permitted to access the Web.09:49
sany_okdrag & drop fixed together with permissions for uploads, but nasty browser connection reset yet not fixed10:41

sany_okI would like to integrate WebGUI site with a custom made asp.net03:11
sany_okIs it a good method to create an encrypted token on the WebGUI side for a logged in user and then have an https with such token which redirects to an asp.net site, which then decrypts the token an does auto login (like a simple SSO)?03:11
sany_okOr it is better to use a real SSO if already exists for WebGUI03:11
sany_okan encrypted token may contain information about WebGUI UserId to logically link the databases of two systems, while a physical link may be done like WebGUI MySQL being a linked server for MSSQL or PostgreSQL for asp.net03:13
sany_okSo asp.net would either autologin or create a new profile and autologin then03:14
-!- Netsplit over, joins: BartJol03:17
-!- mode/#webgui [+v BartJol] by ChanServ03:17
sany_okFor example for a WebGUI user with Id=7 in the MySQL database03:32
sany_okwe could build a hyperlink like:03:32
sany_ok<a href="httpS://asm.aulix.com/AutoLogin.aspx?Token=XXX">03:32
sany_okControl Panel</a>03:32
sany_okand place it to the webgui.aulix.com/profile page03:32
sany_okwhere XXX is an encrypted string representing number 7 with some type of prefix/salt added before encryption to avoid members trying to manipulate the link, just reject such any tries and return to the webgui.aulix.com.03:32
scrottie"s it a good method to create an encrypted token on the WebGUI side"03:54
scrottiewG does create an auth token for the session03:54
scrottiethe concept of logged in userId is tied to the session_id03:54
scrottiethat could certainly be looked up in the database by other systems03:55
scrottieat least if they're running on the same domain name03:55
scrottieif they aren't on the same domain, then the cookie wouldn't be sent to the server and couldn't be checked03:55
scrottiethere's some other stuff in the Bazaar for single signon, too, including OAuth and OAuth2 implementations03:56
scrottieto validate the wgSession (default, configurable) cookie, look in wG's sessionId table.  that should match the sessionId in there and provide you with a userId.  userId is a key into the 'users' table.04:00
sany_okThanks for an idea04:19
scrottiesure thing04:39
sany_okscrottie, can you please point me to OAuth?06:49
sany_okOn bazar I see only some custom auth at:06:50
sany_okhttp://www.webgui.org/bazaar/singlesignon-macro-webgui706:50
sany_okWhere can I find OAuth v2?06:50
sany_okI see some info at:06:53
sany_okhttp://blogs.perl.org/users/preaction/2011/01/whats-new-in-webgui-8-2-auth-improvements.html06:53
sany_okBut is somewhere ready modules for installation?06:54
scrottieuh, ask danny_mk about it06:54
scrottieif you can catch him in here06:54
scrottiehrm06:54
sany_okok, thanks, I remember he did06:55
sany_okOpenIdAuth.changes.2.x.x.txt06:55
scrottiehe had patches at least but it doesn't look like they're on his github06:55
sany_okin 2007, do you think there is a newer version right now?06:56
scrottieI know he was doing some work on it somewhat recently06:56
sany_okIs he generally open to share06:56
sany_ok?06:56
scrottiewell, he had a patch he was trying to contribute to core, so I assume so 06:57
scrottieI think it got put off because of lack of tests06:57
sany_okExcellent, is it possible to backport from V8 dev to V7 stable, or it is a very different auth API now?06:57
scrottiehrm.  there are a lot of changes between 7 and 8.  there's probably versions of stuff for 7 though.06:58
scrottieit's possible to port things, of course.  just a matter of experience and skill and time.06:59
sany_okBtw, can you please let me know, when can we expect public stable of V8?06:59
scrottieuh06:59
sany_ok:)06:59
scrottiePlainBlack had a full time guy, and me and a few other people in our spare time, working on it07:00
scrottiethat was a while ago07:00
scrottienow no one is being paid to work on it.07:00
sany_okWhat happened to the company?07:00
scrottiePlainBlack does a lot of things07:01
scrottiethey're just doing other things mostly now07:01
sany_okSo PlainBlack still exists as a profitable entity at least?07:02
sany_okActually I am very happy with V7, and my only concern is updates and bug fixes07:02
scrottieprofitable as far as I know.  as webgui projects wound down, there were some lay offs.  I'm not an employee any more.07:03
scrottieColin is still doing bug fixes and security fixes for 707:03
scrottieso I guess 7 is in maintenance mode, for the time being.07:03
sany_okSorry to know you are not withing the company as paid employe anymore07:04
scrottiethanks.  it's okay.  it gave me time for other projects ;)07:04
sany_okI see07:04
scrottieI did want to see work get finished there, of course.07:05
scrottieI wrote an installer for wG8 after I left.  I need to test that some more and merge it in.07:05
sany_okBut I would prefer more power being fueled into the WebGUI07:05
scrottieand I'm working with danny_mk on fixing up the admin for 8 (which is the weak part, bug wise), but I haven't touched that in a few months.  ugh.07:06
sany_okI am planning to integrate my ASM with WebGUI hosting07:06
sany_okaulix.com/portfolio is based on ASM from aulix.com/software07:06
sany_okNow I execute my provisioning scripts manually07:07
sany_okIt has following actions:07:08
sany_ok( create | delete | create_database | test | restart | chmod_webgui | chmod_dir | download_version | upgrade_files | upgrade_sites | upgrade | backup_db | backup_databases )07:08
scrottieI'm not sure what I'm looking at here07:08
sany_okLater I will have this integrated into my ASM: a nice CP for ASP.NET with WinForms admin GUI07:08
scrottieelearning product based on wG?07:09
sany_okunfortunately I could not promore WebGUI, the company is too MS toward07:09
sany_okSharepoint, asp.net07:09
sany_okNow I would like to integrate into my own hosting07:09
sany_okThe solution to the company used my ASM licensed to it non-exclusive07:10
sany_okSo ASM-WG will be a plugin for WG07:10
sany_okI think WebGUI is the best CMS, and I think it is a good idea to sell best thing I like by myself to people07:11
sany_okFor example WebGUI hosting07:11
sany_okSo I prefer to have any CMS related done in WebGUI (login, promo, etc.) and subscriptions in my ASM07:12
scrottieah07:12
* scrottie kind of follows07:12
sany_okThere were no updates for a long time for stable, is it indication of stability or problems with the companies budget and interest for the CMS development?07:16
scrottiemore a matter of interest.07:16
scrottiethe number of paying clients diminished.07:16
scrottiewG8 taking far too long to get out the door was a lot of the problem.07:17
scrottiewithout a recent version and withing fixing a lot of the shortcomings of wG (difficult install process, outdated styling), there were no new installations, and existing installations have a tendency to eventually go away07:17
scrottieespecially when politics are involved, and a lot of the clients were government sites07:18
sany_okIs there a trend of migration to another CMS for government customers?07:18
scrottieyup.07:18
sany_okIt seems that immigration sites are still powered by WebGUI07:19
scrottiehrm.07:19
scrottieI haven't worked on any of those.07:19
sany_okI could not find a CMS any better than WebGUI, what CMSs are preferred by them now?07:19
scrottieDrupal.  I'm not a fan of the thing, but it looks nice.07:21
scrottiedanny_mk's project was to update the UI of wG to be that slick.07:21
scrottieI should revisit that.07:21
scrottiealso, Drupal just won the popularity battle.  any time you're not using the most popular product, you have to rationalize not.07:21
sany_okDoes drupal have the same excellent concept of asset tree, and everything from admin?07:21
scrottieno.07:22
sany_okActually a slick look is the last thing I think about if ever07:22
scrottieas tends to be the case with PHP projects, the architecture is crap, but it looks great.07:22
sany_okWG looks very good for me and the MOST importnant it is a VERY GOOD concept, core ideas07:23
sany_okThough I would prefer to have something like WebGUI in ASP.NET or JVM (Scala, etc.)07:23
scrottiewell, a miserable install process really prevented widespread adoption, I think.07:23
scrottieyeah, there's that too.07:24
sany_okHosting companies could easilly fix this07:24
scrottierewriting the core in a Java based language would be a fun project.  I've thought about that.07:24
scrottieit certainly brings in a wider market.07:24
scrottieat least 8 ditches Apache.07:24
sany_okFor example valecms is very affordable07:24
sany_okIt would be awesome to have WebGUI written in Scala for App servers like WebLogic/JBoss, Hibernate for data access07:25
scrottiedo it!07:25
sany_okgovernment could easilly find long money for that07:26
sany_okand it would be best spendure they could do07:26
sany_okin the area of CMS07:26
scrottiethis conversation is getting a bit far afield.07:27
sany_okIf I would have money to provide me time to develop WebGUI and my family simultaneously I would be very glad to participate07:27
sany_okIt would be a fantastic project07:27
scrottiemanagement did what they could to fund development and funded someone full time for 1.5 years.  if there was more money on the table, they would take it.07:28
sany_okAt least we have WebGUI alive now, it is very good too07:28
scrottieneeds work.07:28
scrottiehttp://programminglanguageorpokemon.com/  07:33
* scrottie got 8 out of 10!07:33
scrottieand I never played Pokemon.  yet.07:33
sany_okJust looked at drupal admin, still looks like a PHPnuke for scripty boys, 10 years ago slightly improved by google sponsorship and an enermous amount of plugins07:52
scrottieI interviewed with Google once.  they hate Perl more than they hate PHP.  harsh...07:52
sany_okand what they like?07:52
scrottieJava, C++, and Python07:53
scrottiethat's their official holy trinity07:53
sany_okJava good for high level enterprise large projects agree, C for their crowler to perform well, but python... it is even worse than PHP07:54
scrottienever heard anyone say that before!07:54
sany_okI mean syntax of python, may be I am old school07:55
sany_okI prefer to interface with all these scripty languages via RPC07:55
sany_okperception of syntax is most likely subjective, so it is my vey IMHO07:56
sany_okvery07:56
scrottiehttp://me.veekun.com/blog/2012/04/09/php-a-fractal-of-bad-design/07:57
sany_oksometimes I even think that new languages like ruby, python are created to provide a new generation of coders, making some older incompatible08:40
sany_okThey bring a little compared for example to Perl, fortunately perl develops too (perl 6, different vms for it, even for DotNet)08:41
scrottienew languages are as much about what the author dislikes as s/he likes08:41
scrottiethat allows for a lot of permutations08:42
sany_okof course language does matter a little for a programmer and architect compared to framework, infrastructure like JVM, DotNet08:42
sany_okbut for low level coders it is a lot of work to learn libraries again, think CPAN08:42
sany_okalso maturity of libraries is not good at the beginning of the language lifecycle if not based on a mature framework like JVM, Perl+CPAN, etc.08:43
scrottiepeople like throwing everything away and starting over.  it lets them blame all of their bad code they wrote while learning on $first_language and then everything in $new_language is clean08:48
scrottieI remember when every bit of Java out there was written to the highest standards08:49
scrottieseveral years ago, I tried to hire for a project and asked for code samples and it was all garbage08:49
scrottieditto for Ruby.  only really good programmers were writing Ruby for a while.  then people started learning it as their first language, and learning to program in it, and writing bad code.08:49
-!- kaare_ [~kaare@79.138.141.215.mobile.3.dk] has joined #webgui08:50
sany_oklike a disorder introduced with massed sometimes having a weak background which is filtered out by a new language to filter out older auditory09:05
sany_okBut it would be a good idea at least to keep the libraries by means of a VM like DotNet, JVM09:06
sany_okVM shall be produced only by high quallity expensive guy, while new language iterate like Scala compared to Java09:07
sany_okWe could compare it like paid WebGUI core developers to content end users over the world09:08
scrottieI just wanna write 6502.09:12
scrottiemaybe some CP1600.  that's a great chip.09:13
sany_okbtw, is there an option to encrypt customer e-mail?12:19
sany_oke-mail address in the WebGUI database for a VPS hosting, I would like if some hacker would do a marketing mail out to my customers12:20
sany_okI would NOT like of course :)12:20
sany_okpreferably if encryption key would be stored only in memory and supplied as a parameter somewhere (for example in etc/xxx.conf) on apache restart and then could be instantly deleted12:22
sany_okSo it would be possible to do a correct WebGUI restart only from a remote location via SSH, otherwise e-mails become not valid12:23
